9th Annual 5K The Hunger Run to Benefit Loaves & Fishes

Nashoba Valley Medical Center is proud to once again host The Hunger Run 5K on Saturday, October 14, 2023. The day will also include a children’s “Harvest Half Mile”.  In addition, runners, spectators, and visitors will enjoy music, food and various family activities.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Loaves & Fishes, a non-profit organization that provides food and temporary support services to residents of Ayer, Devens, Groton, Harvard, Littleton and Shirley. The organization also advocates for changes that will promote independence and self-reliance for its clients. Loaves & Fishes most valued asset comes from the generosity of the communities it serves; volunteers work over 13,000 hours a year to ensure that those in need are treated with dignity and respect.  In 2018, the pantry distributed approximately 600,000 pounds of food to 811 families/households, 2000 mouths, 1/3 of which were new to Loaves & Fishes, and $.86 of every dollar went directly to client programming.

Since its inception, Nashoba Valley Medical Center’s 5K Hunger Run has generated over $40,000 for Loaves and Fishes. In 2019, we recruited more than 250 participants who donated more than 500 lbs. of food to the organization as well as $3,500 in cash donations.
