At Nashoba Valley Medical Center (NVMC) we know that a trip to the emergency department can be a nerve-racking experience. That is why we pledge to provide you with the most sophisticated care in a comfortable atmosphere that is personalized for your needs and administered in the timeliest of manner possible.
Our emergency department (ED) is a specialized treatment facility designed to care for adults and children who are experiencing illness or injury. Open seven days a week, 24 hours a day, our team of board-certified emergency physicians and highly skilled nurses are available to treat any medical or surgical emergency.
Our ED has 13 treatment areas designed to provide a wide range of emergency services from resuscitation to a certified stroke center, cardiac care, respiratory, orthopedic, pediatric, eye, ear, nose and throat, wound, and women's health problems. On-site diagnostic testing includes a clinical laboratory and a state-of-the-art imaging department with X-ray, ultrasound, CT scanning and magnetic resonance imaging MRI.
NVMC has a team of specialists and primary care physicians available 24 hours a day to consult with the ED physicians to admit patients to the medical center, when necessary. The specialists address the whole range of health care problems that our patients may be experiencing from neurology to podiatry. The specialists work in collaboration with the primary care physicians to achieve the most optimal outcome for our patients.
The emergency department patient who require more specialized care such as cardiac surgery, neurosurgery or burn unit treatment are treated at NVMC and then transported to the most appropriate facility via Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance or by helicopter from our on-site helipad.
