General and Advanced Surgeries Offered at Nashoba Valley

Nashoba Valley Medical Center offers a range of general and specialty surgeries, including:
Peri-operative Testing and Education Center

The Peri-operative Testing and Education Center is staffed by registered nurses with advanced knowledge and skill in the assessment, preparation and management of surgical patients of all ages. The education is tailored to the individual patient and includes:

  • Pre- and post-operative instructions following guidelines from the anesthesia department
  • An overview of what to expect the day of surgery
  • A realistic and appropriate plan of care concerning the surgical procedure, postoperative care needs and pain control that is developed by the nurse with the patient, parent, and/or caregiver
Same Day Surgery Unit

The Same Day Surgery Unit offers six beds (semi-private rooms) and is staffed by registered nurses experienced in ambulatory surgical care. Services include pre- and post-operative surgical care of patients and pre- and post-operative education that includes individualized discharge instructions. Courtesy follow-up phone calls are made by a registered nurse after each visit to the Nashoba Valley Medical Center's surgical services department.

Inpatient Care

Nashoba Valley Medical Center's surgical inpatient unit has been designed to meet the special needs of patients who are hospitalized after surgery, offering both private and semi-private rooms.
