Nashoba Valley Medical Center Welcomes Fellowship-trained Breast Surgeon Lerna Ozcan, MD, to the Medical Staff

Ayer, MA – Nashoba Valley Medical Center and Steward Medical Group recently welcomed board-certified Breast Surgeon Lerna Ozcan, MD, to the medical staff. Dr. Ozcan is the only fellowship-trained breast surgeon in the Nashoba Valley region and completed a breast oncology fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. She will provide surgical treatment for patients with benign and malignant breast diseases. These include breast-conserving surgery, oncoplasty, and mastectomies ranging from total to nipple-sparing mastectomies.

“Dr. Ozcan is a welcome addition to our surgical team,” said Salvatore Perla, president of Nashoba Valley Medical Center. “Her overall medical training coupled with her expertise in breast surgery will be a benefit to patients living in our community.”

Having earned her medical degree from Justus-Liebig University, School of Medicine in Giessen, Germany, Dr. Ozcan completed her surgical residency at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton, Massachusetts. She is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology, Massachusetts Medical Society and American Medical Society.

“My patients and their individual needs are a top priority in the care I provide,” said Dr. Ozcan. “I approach each patient with an open dialogue; addressing any questions or concerns they may have as breast care, and surgery can be a sensitive topic.”

Dr. Ozcan joins the SMG Nashoba Valley Surgical Office, which is located at 190 Groton Road, Suite 210 in Ayer, Massachusetts. For more information about Nashoba Valley Medical Center’s surgical services, call 978-772-6265.
