Steward Health Care Announces New President of Nashoba Valley Medical Center

Salvatore Perla to Assume New Leadership Role in January

Boston, MA, January 8, 2014 — Today, Steward Health Care System LLC (Steward) announced the appointment of Salvatore L. Perla as president of Nashoba Valley Medical Center, effective January 20, 2014. Doreen Thomas, who has served as interim president since October 22, 2013 will resume her role as chief operating officer and chief nursing operator.

Salvatore Perla lives in the north central Massachusetts area and has most recently served as vice president of clinical and support services at Milford Regional Medical Center in Milford, MA. In that role, Mr. Perla focused on physician recruitment, created new state-of-the-art Sports Medicine Rehabilitation Complexes, coordinated a facility-wide master plan with over 200,000 square feet of new space, led the Medical Center through several successful Joint Commissions Surveys, and other important initiatives. He also continued to serve as the administrative director of the cancer center and clinical services departments, which is a position he has held since 2005. Mr. Perla first joined Milford Regional Medical Center in 2001 as administrative laboratory director and patient access services.

Since 2011, Mr. Perla has been an adjunct faculty member in the biology division of Mount Wachusett Community College teaching microbiology, clinical chemistry and immunology courses.
