Nashoba Valley Medical Center has been honored again with an “A” grade in the Fall 2016 update to the Hospital Safety Grade by The Leapfrog Group, an independent industry watchdog and the nation’s leading experts on patient safety. The Hospital Safety Grade rates how well hospitals protect patients from accidents, errors, injuries and infections.

“We are incredibly proud of this award because it recognizes our ongoing commitment to health care quality and patient safety at Nashoba Valley Medical Center,” said Salvatore Perla, president of Nashoba Valley Medical Center. “Over the past several years, Nashoba has invested in new services, new physicians, infrastructure improvements and expansions, and new clinical technology to improve the quality of care and patient experience in our hospital.”

Calculated under the guidance of The Leapfrog Group’s Expert Panel, the Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade representing a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe from preventable harm. More than 2,600 general U.S. hospitals were assigned grades this fall with 844 hospitals receiving an “A” ranking.
