Nashoba Valley Medical Center (NVMC) provided an estimated $704,000 in community benefits last year. The hospital’s reported total community benefit expenditures of $704,442 in 2014 included health and wellness programs, as well as free or discounted care provided directly to patients. Nashoba Valley Medical Center (NMVC) has been named a recipient of a $248,175 Health Care Workforce Transformation Grant to enhance its overall patient experience through an employee designated health care training program. NVMC has partnered with Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC) to provide training to all 448 members of the hospital staff over a 24-month period.

Nashoba Valley Medical Center (NVMC) has expanded its ophthalmic surgery services and recently welcomed Dr. Gisela Velez, a highly skilled retina surgeon, to the medical staff. Velez is the only retina surgeon practicing in Nashoba Valley and joins Ophthalmologist Dr. Steven Brusie in performing eye surgery for patients at NVMC’s new Eye Care Institute.

The Leapfrog Group named Nashoba Valley Medical Center, a part of the Steward Health Care System, to its annual list of Top Hospitals. An elite distinction awarded to hospitals nationwide for demonstrating excellence in hospital safety and quality through the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, the Leapfrog Top Hospital distinction is awarded to less than seven percent of all eligible hospitals.

Nashoba Valley Medical Center Acquires New Olympus EVIS EXERA III Endoscopy System to Help with Earlier Detection of Digestive Diseases

Nashoba Valley Medical Center is among the first hospitals in the region to acquire the Olympus EVIS EXERA III video endoscopy system at its facility in Ayer, Massachusetts. This new endoscopy system uses a video processor, light source, endoscope and monitor, enabling physicians to peer inside the body to diagnose, detect and treat gastrointestinal (GI) diseases and other conditions.
